Text on Samsung 173P Monitor w/older notebook

Feb 21, 2005 11:58PM PST

I recently purchased a Samsung 173P monitor and I'm a little disappointed with the quality of the text - it should be sharper; characters appear fuzzy or cloudy.

I using the monitor with an older Sony notebook (PCG-Z505JSK) and I am wondering to what extent the graphics quality of the notebook may be affecting the quality of the text on the monitor. The native resolution on the notebook LCD (1024 x 76Cool is below that of the monitor (1280 x 1024), but would that make a difference in something basic like clarity of text?
