Question

Text converted to links

Jun 30, 2012 7:27AM PDT

I use XP and IE8. I have a website and recently when I add text to the site, random words turn into ad links. My users don't see those links-- they only appear on my pc. Any ideas? Thanks,

What are you using

to edit your web site?

Links are in the format {a href="link here"}Text here{/a}

Replace curly brackets with < and >

So if you are adding text and they turn into links, you must be adding them within the {a href}{/a} anchor.

Editing web site
Jun 30, 2012 7:43AM PDT

The site was custom built for me and has designated fields for adding text. One person told me it sounds like I picked up a bug someplace via IE8 which automatically converts various words to a clickable ad link. Any ideas on that?

It's possible

and there's a good test for that. Try another browser.

If the problem does not show up when using a different browser, any ideas on how to identify and remove it from IE8? IE is my browser of choice.

I would try it first.

It's a test and if the test fails, meaning you still get links, then that shows it is not IE but a different issue.

The problem is that you say you are editing web pages from within a browser. Internet browsers are not HTML editors themselves so you must be using something from within the browser to edit the web page, but I don't know what that is.
