Latency, LAG is to be expected as some retransmission is expected. RELIABILITY should entail packet loss which the native PING would be a starting poing.
As to the last line in your post, that's been done for decades. So yup, that works.

Hi guys,
For a project I want to test the reliability of Power line communication. To test this we will use 1 pc with 2 network cards and time how long it takes for a message to arrive.
The setup will be:
Pc - Network card 1 - ethernet - power line adapter - powerline - powerline adapter - ethernet - Network card 2 - pc.
The question: Is it possible to send data to the same pc over the cable and how?
The setup for this question will be:
Pc - Network card 1 - ethernet - Network card 2 - PC
