I love CNET TechTracker and my sister and I both use it on all of our internet-accessible computers. It's a very useful bit of software; it has alerted us to 10+ programs that were out of date or problematic.
I have a 32-bit Dell computer running Windows XP SP3. My sister has a 64-bit HP Notebook running Windows 7. She's having issues with certain programs that apparently are newer than the versions stored by the tracker! Some programs, like one of her Cyberlink Webcam programs, are displaying incorrectly. I think one program is at version 6 but is listed by the tracker as 1.7. I have a similar issue with AVG on mine, as my AVG is newer than the one listed in the tracker. I guess this is a small problem though, and not important.
The one that takes the cake is AIM. AIM is the only program on my computer that is listed as out of date. Interestingly enough, I never have had AIM. I've never used it in my life and don't even know what it looks like. My dad uses the AOL software on my computer but he never installed it, either. My sister has the same AOL software on Windows 7 but she isn't getting AIM in her list of programs.
Why am I getting a program that I've never installed? I am 100% positive that I don't have it and I've checked in several places on my computer just to make sure.
