TechTracker finds false positives

Oct 15, 2009 7:59PM PDT

Your TechTracker says that my Ad-Aware is out of date becuase the installed version is 8.0.0. and the current version is 8.1.0. Actually the installed version is 8.1.0. It also says that my Western Digital Dara Lifeguard Diagnostics for Windows is out of date becuase the installed version is 1.9 and the current version is 1.13. This does not even make sense. Unfortunately, TechTracker seems no better than VersionTracker, which found numerous false positives.

False positives with TechTracker
Jan 24, 2010 6:33PM PST

I also am encountering false positives with TechTracker which seems incapable of recognising that I have updated the following:
FTP Voyager
Snagit
CDBurnerXP
I have wasted time uninstalling, downloading, reinstalling and generally chasing my tail.

This all started about two months ago - till then TechTracker was a delight.

My two reports on this have been ignored.

TechTracker versions
Jan 25, 2010 7:12AM PST

Hello,

Thank you for letting us know! Seeing the specific application names affected will help us get a better idea of what is going on here.

You mention submitting reports, so I assume you have done this - if not, I would highly recommend it: Be sure to submit your version feedback from your My Software tab at www.cnet.com/techtracker . Identify the entry on your software list which appears incorrect, click on the "Feedback" link, and send a report directly to our catalog team about this issue. You should at least get a confirmation e-mail from the system when you have done this.

Just a reminder: For assistance with CNET TechTracker, we invite you to reach out to the CNET TechTracker team here: http://cnet.custhelp.com/
(Click on "E-mail Support" and be sure to select the "CNET TechTracker" category from the Category drop-down.)

Regards,
