I found a resolution on another forum. Along with resetting the TCP/IP stack with:
netsh int ip reset reset.log
I also had to reset my winsock catalog with:
netsh winsock reset catalog
It was a thing of beauty when the Google screen appeared in my browser window.
TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Windows XP with SP2.
Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt.
Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog
Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log
Reboot the machine.
I have a Windows XP Home Edition that won't browse the internet. There are no firewalls or antivirus programs or viruses in the way. The card has checked out fine. I believe I narrowed it down to a tcp/ip problem (ping problem #65 Transmit failed). I've reviewed previous answers on this issue here. I performed the netsh int reset ip command and it ran successfully. However, my problem remains. My card obtains an IP, gateway and all from the router, but cannot reach the internet. What else can I do to resolve this?
