Is if you leave the reservation you are very much on your own. If you brick the TV, you get to deal with that. As this is uncharted territory I will write the cheap way to get Netflix on all current HDTVs is the Roku and Amazon sticks. There is an used market now so figure 20 bucks there.
Don't those run on Android 6.0? If so you need to treat it like any android device.
locate and turn on "install from outside sources"
