One power cord. And one optical cord that connects to your TV"
Seems OK since both TV and bar has the right output and input. The only reason I didn't use such is I wanted a single control for volume and TV.
Looking for an easy to set up, great sounding, reasonably priced sound bar to work with TCL 55P605 Roku TV... am a huge Sonos fan but reading different forums, it doesn't seem like a Sonos Playbar/base would work - any suggestions? Thanks.
I read in several forums that Sonos Playbar/base doesn't support Dolby Digital Plus (+)... If that's incorrect, GREAT... would like to keep Sonos "consistent" and will try it out. If it's just a matter of operating one less remote, that's not a deal breaker for me. Just hate to have it not work and then have the return hassle. Really like the TCL P series picture but their audio isn't very good. (Thanks for the comment)
All sets I've found have a PCM or Stereo option. Not all content will arrive with DD+ and not one set I've seen will convert up to DD+. Almost all can pass some sort of audio but not all. Due to a hare brained idea of copy protection audio passthrough is a bit of a brier patch.
So if you have audio issues, set the source and/or TV to PCM/Stereo. It's not any great loss since it's just a soundbar and not a full up 5.1 receiver system.
For the same money you can have real surround, better speakers which can be separated to provide a proper separation, and full support of the various audio codecs (DD, etc.). In some cases you can get the whole shebang for what Sonos charges for just the base.
Keep in mind surround only matters when there are 5.1 speakers at minimum. Being able to physically separate (i.e. adequately space apart) all the surround speakers is the other important part of the equation. You don't get that w/ Sonos.
Appreciate the response. Completely understand the price and cost with Sonos... In your opinion, can you suggest a less costly sound bar or base that would be easily installed and sound great with the TCL P Series? This TV is in a pretty minimally designed room and I wasn't looking to have sub and extra speakers around the room. Thanks in advance for your suggestion.
Although the sound quality is poorer by comparison, I understand (well, partially) why anything would be a step above the built in HDTV speakers.
That said, how about a soundbar with a separate small sub? That would be even a step above the 'all in one' type of cheap soundbars. There would be no traditional right/left separated speakers but just a thin bar with satellite sub. I have hidden such subs in baskets and behind plants or furniture, YMMV.
FWIW, the CNET list of 'best subs for 2017' will suffice. Just look at the ones in your general price point. Vizio and Samsung models are fine and super easy to set up.
Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly
Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
