Taskbar problem

by hudgybear / May 2, 2007 4:45 AM PDT

Hi,

I am not sure what happened to my taskbar I think it may have gotten corrupted somehow, but it is missing the collapsible arrow on the right by the clock. I used to have an arrow there to expand my icons as needed but it is missing. I checked the taskbar properties and everything ssems ok but the arrow is missing to expand this area so I am at the whim of the computer

Thank you for your help

Hide inactive icons check box in the Task Bar properties down near the bottom in the Notification area? Check that and you should get the arrow back.

hudgybear, From the link below under the letter "N":

Notification Area - Hidden Chevron Missing

For some users setting the very first icon to Always Hide, restores the arrow. This behavior seems to come into effect when one uses an icon on the System Tray. Also be certain that the "behavior" of each of each icon is what you want it to be. Right-click each, to make changes.

hudgybear, At the upper portion of that site you'll see an alphabet and you would click on the letter "N" and scroll down to "Notification Area - Hidden Chevron Missing" and follow the instructions I posted in my previous reply.

You set the behavior by right clicking your Taskbar, choose Properties, under the Taskbar tab click the Customize button then right click each one (one at a time) and use the drop down arrow button to set the behavior.

Hi,

Thanks for a quick reply. I figured out what under the N meant. Went to your site and followed the manual instruction to disable the ssdp.No chevron. I havent tried the automatic instruction with the little downloads will try that now. I am wondering about setting the properties of the icon I have done so and they are what I want. Regarding hiding the first one... What if it is one I want to show, will it disappear??

Thanks

I was worried about hiding my first icon as it is Zone alarm but somehow things kept changing and my volume showed up first so I took advantage and hid it. Sure enough the chevron returned and things look back the way should.

Thank you for all your help

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
