Task Scheduler

Apr 4, 2011 3:35AM PDT

I learnt the hardway that one of window's update kb2305420 had corrupted my TS.Once I uninstalled this update I didn't get the corrupted file notice. However two of the tasks in the library are still not functioning ...RAC...System Restore...I have run countless scans and my system comes up clean so at a lost as to what to try now.

Task Scheduler
Apr 4, 2011 9:34AM PDT

Grif your point was very clear but not sure how I can apply it being my TS it's self does not launch. Here is the error report from "event viewer".Task Scheduler service failed to launch tasks triggered by computer startup. Additional Data:Error Value 2147942402.User Action:restart task scheduler service. When I look in "services" it shows TS as "started" and it's startup type is "automatic"which makes it even more puzzling to me.

And You've Deleted All Tasks From The Scheduler?
Apr 4, 2011 10:17AM PDT

If you can open TS from the Start Menu, see if you can remove all tasks it contains. There error seems to indicate that TS starting, it simply can't launch the tasks it contains.

Hope this helps.

Task Scheduler

I tried and I can remove any of the tasks listed in the TS library.I noted that the task "windows error reporting" shows a history of being completed so TS is functioning for some tasks.

And You've Tried The Fix Suggested By Microsoft?
Apr 5, 2011 1:42AM PDT

Here's the link regarding the update you listed in your first post:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2305420

Using Task Scheduler, you should be able to find the GUID entry, then use the Workaround instructions to alter the registry key.

Hope this helps.

Work Around
Apr 9, 2011 11:34PM PDT

I was able to identify the "GUID" in TS for "system restore" and "RAC" but I was not able to locate a matching guid in any of the 4 registry keys listed in microsoft article ms10-092.I'm surprised msft would not have issued a patch to correct this because of the number of systems must been affected.
