You say ''when you open Office 2300.'' Because you then say you want a white screen, I assume you are opening Word 2003. (You can't ''open'' Office, you only open an Office component -- Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, etc.)

Your problem and its solution are simple. You have Task Pane turned on as an option. When you turn it off in Toolbars, that is only for the current session. You want it off permanently, so go to Tools > Options > View; uncheck it there and click on OK. It should not reappear, and the Task Pane option under toolbars will no longer exist.

You could do the same for any other Office component that has the Task Pane Option, such as Excel.

Hope this helps

Frank
