Task Bar Question

Feb 16, 2004 9:26PM PST

How do I get rid of the icons on lower right hand corner. I would like to remove the monitors (internet connection) Messenger at least these 2 for now.

I went to MSCONFIG > Start up, but not sure which to delete, do anyone know what I should be looking for?
I think I saw the messenger, but which is the 2 monitors?

Go to, Connect To/Show All Connections, right click the appropriate icon, ie; Dial Up/ Lan, select Properties and in the bottom left corner is a check box, "Show Icon in notification area when connected", left click and remove check. As for Windows Messenger if you use it you cannot remove it from the system tray except by Exiting. If you do not use this service, open My Computer, select C Drive, open Program Files, find Messenger,(ensure you have exited messenger in system tray first!)then right click on folder and select change name, add off to Messenger and hit enter. Good Luck Mathew

AS, For the monitors(internet connection)go into your Control Panel and open the Network Connections and right click on your DUN Connectoid, choose Properties abd at the bottom uncheck "show icon in notifications area when connected". For the Messenger go to the link below and scroll down to Msmsgr, Msmsgs, Msnmsgr and follow the instructions for whichever one is applicable to what is in your Startup list.

Messenger can be changed by simply opening the program, then using the tool drop down menu, then options which you can choose to start up when windows starts and simply uncheck that box, as well as it running in the background.
