Are you saying that

you can connect a Windows machine directly to a Mac that is in Target mode?

If so, what has this to do with installing your OS?

Was not really clear

Yes I agree my message was not perfectly clear. I want to re-install my OS, so I make some back-up data. I did it by using sharing folder on a LAN network.

But the point is; when I put my mac in a target mode, the only accessible driver is the dvd player. No matter where I plug it (on a other mac or on a PC). I can't acces the HD. I try both way, reboot in target mode with the option in the OS (startup disk) and restart and push T button. And both give the same result.

(ok I just see on a other forum that can be cause by a old firmware and up-dating it can resolve the problem). I will try.

But if you have any other idea i'm open to it.

The two Mac's need to be connected before

you start up the Old machine.

Use Firewire or Ethernet, both work.

Have the new machine up and running, connect the old machine, which is NOT booted, to it.
Start the old machine and, at the chime, hold down the "T" key.
Once the Firewire sign is bouncing around the screen, the machine should appear on the desktop of the new machine.

One question: Does the old machine boot normally?
