Tapping Function

Jul 31, 2004 7:16AM PDT

On my laptop when I'm typing, sometimes the cursor will move itself to a different part of the sentence or paragraph so that what I'm typing all of a sudden ends up in the middle of another sentence. I was told to turn off the tapping function but there's no tapping able/disable box or at least one that I can find. My laptop is a Toshiba A75-S226. My old Compaq used to do the same thing. Help!

The "tapping function" isn't install on all laptops but it's part of the touchpad software, normally for left or right mouse clicks. Most of this type of software is programmable to some degree. I'm not at a notepad computer at the moment, but you might try searching the preferences of your touchpad, or it's software, or maybe open the Control Panel, then select the "Mouse" icon, and see if the adjustments are there.

Then again, this may be the mouse "repeat" rate which can be altered in the Control Panel/Mouse button section.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Grif. I was able to locate the enable/disable tapping function in the advanced mode for the keyboard. This unit has a function that will allow you to keep tapping enabled but disabled when the keyboard is in use. This is sooo much better.
