The reason tripods are of a certain height is that they allow you to reach the camera to control it. Less necessary in these days if Wi-Fi.
How about the paparazzi trick of a light aluminium stepladder. You can get a clamp based camera mount to screw on the top of the frame.
A colleague on another forum uses a 15 ft. pole and the camera's remote control. He views the picture on a small LED monitor.

So tallest I have been able to find is a 72", but really for videotaping sports, taller is better. Anyone know of a reasonably priced tripod, which is preferably 108+?
