Question

Taking out GPU

Jun 3, 2018 4:28PM PDT

I am currently building meh/my pc and waiting for the last part (Storage/IHD) and my dad is letting me use his geforce gtx 1080 ti founders edition while I save up for MY gpu(Since they are skyrocketing in price.) and so I was just wondering because ei have seen other things/stuff on the internet saying if you take something out you have to reinstall windows. If thats the case I might as well buy one now or something or IDK.
PLEASE REPLY NEED HALP/HELP ASAP.

Thanks,

Nope.

At worst I have to install a driver for the video system that is in the PC.

In fact I tend to use DDU if I want to install a clean driver for this area. I have yet to reinstall Windows for what you asked about.

One more thing

Wait if he has 2 of them (which he does, forgot to add) would I still have to install a DDU/Driver?

I think you need to learn what DDU is used for.

It's likely that nothing needs to be done after the removal. But if I thought it did, I'd use DDU then Nvidia's latest driver. Most likely via their GeForce Experience app.

So can I take out one of the gpu's and when he turns on the computer will everything still work fine?

In most PCs.

But to be sure, look at the motherboard manual to see which slot holds your first and second GPU. You remove the second GPU.

Your not being clear

Does 'HE' refer to your dad or the machine you have?

If it's your dad let him remove the gpu from his machine and test.

If everything still functions he can hand you the removed gpu.
