Question

Tablet with full size SD card slot

Feb 4, 2012 12:32AM PST

My husband has a game camera that he wants to quickly check his pictures. I am looking for a tablet that he can stick his SD card from his camera in and see the pictures from the field. There are game camera readers out there for purchase but that is all they do. I would prefer to spend the money on a multi use tablet. Any suggestions for a good priced one?

What I used is a USB card reader.

I was lucky that one of my android tablets supported an usb card reader.

There are few to less going forward tablets that will have full size SD card slots. BUT THERE IS ONE THAT IS VERY NICE and worthy of mention.

--> The Apple iPad 2 and the camera connector kit (29bucks).

Tablet with full size SD card slot

I know the Toshiba Thrive has a full-sized SD card slot, along with full-sized HDMI and USB plugs. I believe the Sony tablet and one of the Lenovo tablets also have a full sized SD card slot as well. I am not sure about the others, though. As for price, they are probably all close in price; I don't think you'll find a cheap one that will have a regular SD card slot. (I am talking brand names, there are a bunch of odd, no-name brand tablets out there that you want to steer clear of for one reason or another) I happened to get my Thrive for only $199 as a black friday deal, so I couldnt' beat that price.

A possible solution to your camera-tablet SD card problem

How about the possibility of buying micro-SD cards, putting them into a micro to standard adapter, which is placed into the camera.

The micro-SD card could then be removed from the adapter to be placed into a tablet (with a micro-SD slot, obviously).
