Even those 99 buck tablets may do for this trip. That way you are not over invested in the device. I won't list any model as there are far too many that have the memory slot, wifi, camera and more.

I'm taking a month-long backpacking trip to Thailand this summer with a buddy, and we're trying to travel as light as possible. At the same time though, I want to have some kind of computer with me to communicate with family, have wifi access when needed, and share pictures. I've decided that a tablet would be best for this (since tablets have taken over the netbook market), but I don't know which one would be best. I'm looking for something small with wifi capability (3G or 4G isn't needed), a usb or sd card slot for storing pictures, enough storage space to store pictures, and the capability to function in Thailand. I was looking into the Google Nexus 7, but I've read that it relies on Google Play too much to make it a practical choice for international travel since Play doesn't work in all countries.
Any suggestions for the right device?
