Tablet Advice

Aug 9, 2009 7:15AM PDT

I recently started my own business doing research for the real estate industry and I need an easy way to fill out forms digitally. I travel to several different counties each day and I have been looking at purchasing a tablet pc so I can enter research information into forms I have created with Adobe Pro 9. In my research I noticed several digital tablets (non pc)for around $100-$200. I do not need anything as robust as the graphic design tablets. Battery life would need to be around 5 hours minimum and it would need some sort of handwriting recognition software to transform my handwriting into text. I would need to store around 50-100 forms and be able to save an additional 50-100 forms that have been filled out. Any suggestions?

The problem is.

The same as before. The market never developed and there are no such things to buy at that price.

However, look at the Kindle and ask if you can fill in forms there and file there. The last time I asked it was "No." And it still doesn't meet your price.

Maybe laptops are still the right answer.

I have been looking at Motion Industry products, they seem to be the best suited to my needs although more than I really want to spend. But it may just be worth the investment anyhow.

tough to do

Walking around all day with an open laptop in one hand and typing with the other while flipping pages in old book with no place to set a laptop is a bit tough. I would have an edge in the marketplace if I can provide the information typed. Handwriting notes and then typing them is double work and not cost effective based on the time involved. Each client has forms for the information formatted in differently and creating forms I can enter information directly to cuts the turn time one the information in half and reduces paper and toner expenditures. I don't think a pda is what I am looking for, my blackberry storm can do that, but thank you for the response.
