Question

Table of contents auto numbering problem

Jun 16, 2014 12:21PM PDT

I have a problem that is driving me crazy. I have created a table of contents in my document and although the heading numbering and page numbering are all correct, when i create or update the entire table, there is numbering for each line in the table of contents and i cannot find out why. I can remove them by clicking on each numbered line and de-selecting the numbering, but as soon as i refresh the entire table, it comes back. Aaaaaargh! Can someone help? Below is a sample of what it looks like
7 1.....................................Executive Summary 6
The 7 is the seventh line in the Table of Contents. The 1. is the correct numbered heading and page number.

Seems like there is some numbering in the style. It should be possible to remove it.
Is it limited to the styles in just one document, or is it global? In the last case, try renaming normal.dot?.
