T520 Quad Core docking station 4337 vs 4338

Jul 12, 2017 10:55AM PDT

Hello,

I am happy with my T520 - i7 Quad core and I would like to buy a docking station for home. I am going to connect only one monitor to this dock. I understand the differences between 4337 and 4338 models, but actually I use 4337 dock with two monitors and 90 W adapter from one year and I have no problems. After reading ThinkWiki and some posts I understand that I have to use 4338 model. Unless it is working I am okay, but I am confused about the performance. Do you guys think that there may be issues with performance doe to the lower than recommended power supplying.

Thank you!

Your not going to get usb 3 out of that.

Since your only going to use one monitor and been running the old dock for a year just keep the old dock.

Thank you!

So if it is running I can assume it is running on full performance. This is important for me and I didn't noticed lowering the performance while on the dock. Maybe the problems may occur when I connect more monitors and more devices to the dock. Do you agree?

Thanks again!

Sure

As you connect more stuff to the dock then your small psu may have a problem.

1. Go with what works.
2. Call the maker's support and ask which dock to use. If they tell the other ask why.

You have to choose to go with what works or what the maker tells you.
