T30 problems

hi there.
i'm having problems with my T30 1G player i got yesterday, and i hope someone can help me please.

i run XP service pack 2 and use the opera browser.

first, i ripped tracks from cds to the WMP library, and then created a sync list. however when i try to get the music over to my player, every track i try gets to around 85% and then gives me this message: 'the l/0 operation has been aborted because of either a thread exit or an application request'.

i reinstalled WMP10 just in case there was a problem with my existing version, but no difference.

i also tried to update the firmware from 1.70 to 1.71. all goes well until i have to disconnect the player to the pc. i then get a message on the player's screen saying 'no firmware'.

so as you can see i am very frustrated. i've been looking forward to this player for ages, but it just won't work.
i must be doing something wrong i suppose.

can you help please?
thanks.
