systems restore

by eliz6beth / June 24, 2004 3:40 AM PDT

Every time I try to restore to an earlier date my computer says that it cannot be done. I have tried several dates but with no success.

Looking back I seem to have lost the restore points for April and May.

Should I disable and enable system restore.

Any ideas?

I have been having the same problem. I use trend-macro PC-cillan and also a program called fix-it utilities. Fix it utilities has some sort of back up files feature to it and I'm thinking it is interfering with my PC's capabilities. Do you use either of these? What I did, was create a restore point myself after I defragged my system and got it running halfway decent. I will probably have to do this monthly as my system restore won't even go back to the prior month on the calendar. I have no clue why my system stopped creating those checkpoints.
Good luck!

Am a senior surfer and not very computer-wise. From what I can see SR is creating restore points but will not restore back to them. Have AVG, Spybot, Adaware and Zone alarm on - I disable them when I try to SR.
I do not need to restore at present but would like to have the facility to do so when I need to. Hope this makes sense to you. Many thanks

Bingo. Zone Alarm.

Zone Alarm is known to interfere with System Restore on Windows ME. If so, please complain to Zonelabs so they can fix it.

Dear eliz6beth,

I too am having a problem (that sounds much like the one you're having) with my computer's system restore feature. I posted my note today, July 27th, before I saw yours dated June 24th. Have you received any advice yet? Or have you solved your problem?
