Feb 19, 2004 7:22AM PST

my systemax(4 months old=purchased thru Tiger-Direct
Can anyone give me tips on,(1)unit will not hold color settings, jumps screens back & forth.(reverts to 8 bit color setting,in the middle operating,System is very unstable. Its under warranty, but Systemax charges for labor during warrant,& Tiger Direct leaves you on hold,or refers you to systemax.I'm on my second unit,
we forced them to replace the first, however this unit now is doing the same.So if you own a system or can help with advice,it would be appreciated.(ALSO if any one knows how to obtain the proper XP drivers for MTZ/MTI (dvd burner,System installed outdated programs, but now claims once you buy you must cure the promblem since your the owner)

"Tip: If you are asking for help to troubleshoot a computer-related problem, please be sure to include all the necessary information (ie: operating system, model number, hardware, software, etc) that will help others identify your problem for a speedy resolution."

I'd love to comment more, but in a nutshell, a fine detailed listing of what's in the machine could help. Many times we see unusable Jaton video cards (long history!), too small power supplies (yes, 300 Watts will work when new!) and more.

There are NO "drivers" for the CD/DVD/CDRW drives, but there are such things as SOFTWARE to use the extra features.

Tell more (including the power supply wattage.)

Bob

Lots of luck on your Systemax computer. I bought a systemax from the home shoppig network 4 years ago and it has been nothing but trouble for us. Troubles conveiently started after the 1yr. warranty so systemax was no help and I had to pay to have it repaird numerous times. See if you get any kind of tech support from systemax, we got one year with ours. Finally gave up and we bought a nice new HP computer that has been trouble free and we use the Systemax just to type of documents as that's all it's good for now short of using it for a door stop in the summer. At one point when I was researching my problems with the Systemax I found a ton of users all complainging about them so I have learned to research better and not buy these so called bargain deals on TV again. I am hoping for your sake they have made them better now and they are more reliable.

I had just the opposite problem. i had a hp 9995, expensive, and had nothing but trouble from day 1. suffered through four years with it and finally dumped it. i got a rather expensive unit, custom made, and it is fantastic. i have xp media 2005. i have called tech support and was very satisfied with their service. plus, they spoke AMERICAN ENGLISH.
