Question

System won't boot, 1 short beep then 1 long beep.

Aug 22, 2015 4:33AM PDT

So I have an old HP Desktop from 2007 that worked perfectly fine and I wanted to upgrade it. So I purchased and installed a new CPU, GPU, and RAM and installed them. But now when I try to turn it on all I get is a no signal message on the screen and 1 short beep followed by 1 long beep. Apparently these beeps are supposed indicate that there is a memory problem so I took out the new RAM and put the old one back in, but the same thing is still happening. I highly doubt that the RAM slots are broken because it was working perfectly fine before I put in all the new parts and I have already tried clearing the CMOS but that didn't do anything. All help is appreciated and please if you have any ideas about what I need to do to fix it please let me know. Thank you!

Next time, change one item at a time.
