Resolved Question

System suddenly slow

Aug 3, 2014 8:12PM PDT

Hello Guys,

I have a pc in my office with the following spects:

- Windows 7 Pro
- Intel i5 3470 @ 3.2 GHZ
- 8 GB RAM
- 120 GB SSD (OCZ Agility 3)
- Intel HD Graphics 2500

My system works very fast most of the time. However, today when I started windows and started using my pc I realised it had suddenly become slow. A day ago when I used it there was no problem.

Problems:
- PC slow
- Refreshing content in screen takes time
- For e.g. i open a program and i can see the list box getting populated
- Runs fine in Safe mode

My tests
- I ran a SSD test and it check out fine and also tested with another program and it gave green health to the SSD.
- No virus or malware (i did run some scans)

I am careful when I use my pc and windows seems ok (no errors) but very sluggish. I opened winzip and on left size panel where you see zip filename it was refreshing/flickering a bit.

There is surely a problem and I am unable to figure out.

I checked the RAM with windows memory diagnostics tool and it did not detect any issues.

What should I do ?

Thank you,

Cheers,
Jack

nothing suspicious found
Aug 3, 2014 9:08PM PDT

Thank you for your reply.

I did run the # AdwCleaner v3.302 and it found only 1 service.

***** [ Services ] *****
[#] Service Deleted : AppleChargerSrv
***** [ Files / Folders ] *****
File Deleted : C:\Windows\System32\AppleChargerSrv.exe

I used tool processexplorer and after examining list of processes I cant see anything suspicious.

I thought the problem was fixed but after rebooting the system is back to a slow state. I am surprised as a day ago everything was working okay. I dunno what happened? Please help.

Then let's assume it's all normal.

If a system is slow during a limited time (5 minutes or so) after boot, it can be something like the antivirus doing a scan. A good solution then is to replace shutdown with hibernate.

Not ok

My system usually works very fast specially with SSD installed. Right now it is working at less than half the capacity. There is surely something that's wrong but I am unable to figure it out.

problem solved

Problem solved. A dll (MsvMain3d.dll) in folder YcgPack was called by regsvr at startup. That rogue dll causes system to slow down.

Thanks.
