For that you'll just need to purchase a cloning application such as Norton Ghost, Norton Save & Restore, or my personal preference, Acronis TrueImage. With any of those you can create a compressed copy of the entire hard drive on a set of CDs/DVDs, another hard drive, etc. from which you can restore your computer at any time. You can also make incremental backups over time to complement the initial backup.
Hope this helps,

Hello all,
I am buying a new Dell Vostro and I am planning to set up this machine as per my requirement, like installation of the programs I need, partitioning the HDD etc. etc.
Looking at the history, I mess up my machine so much that I need to perform system restore once every year (call it new year cleaning process). So every time I do it, I don't want to spend time in reinstalling all the programs so I would like to create my own system restore CD which will restore the system as I want and then I can update. I don't want to use XP's in-built system restore option.
I was wondering if this is possible, if so which programs do you recommend
OR
You still suggest me to use XP's in-built system restore?
