System restore will not restore

by joddwallgate / March 25, 2009 2:09 AM PDT

I did a full restauration 2 days ago as I had some major bugs.
After reformat and re installing key files & software I tried system restore, it would not restore. I booted in safe mode and did malware & virus searches.
I have xp family with service pack 3
I have Norton antivirus 2009 with enhanced autoprotection is this where the problem lies. Thank you

Norton blocks System Restore.

Please ask Symantec to fix that.

It's their decision to block it. We all wonder why.

thanks for your reply. I have been onto Symantec who insist that Norton antivirus does not interfere with system restore. They told me to disable key features of antivirus and try system restore, it still wouldn't restore. They say the problem is with windows not Norton. Having done a complete system recovery only 3 days ago I cannot work out what is happening. Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks

OK Bob I believe you absolutely

So how do I deal with it. I am not a technophobe but have real limitations in computers.
So do I not worry about having system restore or do I uninstall Norton & get another antivirus software??
I do appreciate your advice and will act upon it!

Make new decisions about this company's products.

In our Spyware Forum and in our Computer Help Forum you always get a lively discussion when you ask about "If not Norton, what?"

-> What about Bob? (great movie)

Here my computers are boring things. No opening of every email, we don't use IE much and for months, scans with the usual tools we see discussed in the forums finds nothing. No P2P use, Limewire or such so we never give the pest any chance.

I've also installed AUTORUN EATER to patch up that now obvious gaping hole.

So the kid is playing an online game so we changed his antivirus to Avast. Here I have Free AVG and ZoneAlarm works fine for me. But then again we are not doing anything risky.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
