System Restore please help!

Jul 20, 2007 3:48PM PDT

Can anyone advise me why I cannot restore my computer with System restore. Each time I try to go back to a restore point, the computer goes through the whole process, restarts then says-"your system could not be restored"

"your system could not be restored"

This certainly indicates a corrupted restore point, probably a virus.

I would disable SR in order to purge.

Try AVG ANTI SPYWARE and use your anti virus.

1)disable SR
2)start in safe mode
3)run the AV and AS
4)reboot,and scan in norm mode
5)if all is clean create another restore point.

System restore problem

Thanks Tom,
I will try your suggestion. It is my wife's PC and she has Norton Antivirus (I use AVG on my laptop, but she is very loyal to Norton).Should I still go through the steps you mention, only doing the VS with Norton?
Thanks,
Peter

Being loyal can be a problem. Here's an online scan.
