System Restore

by Rocasan1 / February 24, 2005 9:34 PM PST

I have Dell Dimension 2350 Computer
Windows XP Home

"System Restore" does not work. I tried several times using different dates, and not even under "Safe Mode".

I contacted Microsoft and they sent me a new Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition CD.

I used this new CD to Repair the System. !

Please let me know what else I can do.

Thank you.

When you say it doesn't work

do you mean you have no restore points from which to choose? If you do have a restore point, does it go through the process only to tell you it failed?

"System Restore." Can you then tell which area is causing the reported anomaly?

First- what did you tell Microsoft to make them send you a new XP Home CD ?

Back to reality: "Does not work" does not tell much. However,I would disable system restore, reboot and reenable it. More help and information at Start > "Help and Support". BTW what did you do with the new CD provided by Microsoft to repair the system ?

System Restore not working is a common problem in windows. Go to START, right click MY COMPUTER, click properties, system restore, next check "turn off system restore on all drives", click OK, then YES.

Reboot, then follow the same steps above but uncheck the "turn off system restore on all drives."

System Restore has now been "refreshed"

I have XP home sp2 - kids downloaded spyware - System restore does not restore to any previous restore points - message is 'System Restore failed to restore' and thats all .... nothing untoward in the event viewer. Trued as administrator and in safe mode to no avail. Looks like a complete re-install ....
