System Restore

Just acquired an iMac G5 17" and need to wipe and restore the system. (No restore discs came with it) I have an Imac G5 20" and was wondering if I'd be able to restore the 17"s system with my restore discs that came with the 20" model. Is this possible or will I be messing up the 17" iMac?

Postscript To Post

Looking over my post, I should have said "System Install discs" and not "System Restore discs"

A disk by any other name,,,,

You should be able to use the Restore Disks from the other machine to Restore the newer one.

The only difference is the screen size.

Have at it.

Good Luck

Never had a problem

I've never had a problem doing anything like that. Just recently we needed to use a disc from a MBP on an iMac because the copy of the site licensed disc we had was bad. Worked just fine. I've also used an install from that same disc to boot a couple other system models for repair purposes.

Apple claims that those discs aren't tested with any other models and may have problems, but the reality is that aside from the printing on the top, and the version of Apple Hardware Test on the disc, it's no different from a retail disc.
