System Restore

Sep 10, 2004 1:31AM PDT

I'm running Windows Me and am having difficulty accessing System Restore. I believe the problem started shortly after I subscribed to a DSL Internet Provider. There may or may not be some connection. In any case, each time I try accessing System Restore, I get the following message, regardless of how many times I restart. "System Restore cannot run until you restart the computer. Please restart the computer and then run System Restore again." I've tried most of the Microsoft suggested fixes without success. Any additional thoughts out there? Thanks - Dino

Sad to say, Windows ME has many bugs that is why Microsoft released Windows 2000 and later on Windows XP.
DO check your msconfig file if there are files which had been changed during the installation of the internet provider, use the file date as basis. Did they run an installation program or did they just let Windows detect your modem card. Installing internet provision has got to do with DNS, TCP/IP ,URL, POP and FTP or what are termed as internet protocols, hence it will not affect in any manner your system configuration, unless of course the provider installed a program which affected your configuration.
I suggest that you upgrade to Windows XP, upgrading will not have any effect in your files.
