Question

System Mechanic PC Care

Oct 3, 2012 12:51PM PDT

I have a Dell Inspiron 1720 running the Vista operating system. I purchased and downloaded system mechanic which I run about once a week. Recently during the optimization process the computer froze and will not move forward/re-boot. When I cut it off and than back on it will come up to the sign in page, freeze again, and will not move any further. I have contacted systems mechanic and received no assistance at all. Can anyone help me with this problem. Thank you!

What else can I say. I've got a computer that will not reboot itself beyond the sign-in page, locked-up, frozen. I would love to get to the utilities menu, but I can't. As stated, I was running system mechanic's total PC Care and the computer just locked up. Sorry I really don't know what else to say to describe the problem.

What's the "sign-in page"?

Although we don't recommend using such cleaners, they are unlikely to cause the system to freeze while running. So I think it's unrelated. It could have happened just as well while you were using MS Word to edit a document.

Can you boot into Safe Mode with command prompt?
Can you boot from your Windows Vista DVD and see if any of the options of Startup Repair work? That's described in http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/repair-windows-with-windows-startup-repair/
