System Mechanic Defragmentation


I started defragmenting my HD with System Mechanic Pro from Saturday 26th 2005 until Monday 28th and it still didn't finish!! Is that normal ?!?!?!?

The size of the hard disk matters. In order, 1.2 GB drives defrag faster than 20, 40 and 120 GB drives in that order.

So it can take a very long time depending on the drive size and whether you have a Pentium 100 or P4 3GHz.

Hi Bob,

Thanks for you message. That was very quick!! The size of the partition C of my HD is about 40GB and the computer is a Intel P4. I had to cancel. I noticed that it sticks in the same place. I'll give it another try when I go for a month vacation.

You are assured there is nothing to lose on that drive. After you have a backup copy of what you can't lose, find the DRIVE FITNISS TEST from the drive maker and see if the drive is OK.
