System is blocked from going on Standby

Our system will not go into standby and there is a message on my wife's desktop that says "The device driver for the 1284.4 compatable printer is preventing the machine from entering standby"

This message does not come up on my desktop. If my wife logs off, the system will go into standby.

System details: Windows XP with service pack 2, AVG Fire wall, Zone Alarm on

System less than year old. Intel Celeron D 2.66 GHz 512Mg ram
DSL Modem, HP7150 Printer

install the hp driver

the 1284.4 driver is a generic driver.

first, download the photosmart software/driver for xp: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=228&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=72881&lang=en

next uninstall the printer and reboot.... don't allow windows to find/install the software automatically.

lastly, run the photosmart software to install the hp driver.
