system error during defrag

got a system error and shutout during the defrag. When I brought it back up the 'send error' routine said 'driver error' (?)
Restore said: "turned off' so I couldn't restore but all the major prgs seemed to come up OK.
ANyway the question is : Can I start defrag again or am I in danger of losing pages of programs?

My advice is to not defrag until it's sorted.

Defrag is optional and has never fixed issues for me.
