Question

System date on old iPad-2

Mar 27, 2016 6:03PM PDT

Some time ago I upgraded to IOS 8.0. When I did, I lost the ability to set the system date (& time) to anything more than 2-years in the future. Is this a bug or intentionally no longer possible. I've gone to the genius bar but they feebly start googling it. So maybe they've been told not to show us how, or, indeed, nobody knows. Before the upgrade, I "faked out" candy-crush with the system date and thus had an infinite supply of "lives." Not that it mattered, am poor in that game and after 6-months of playing only made it to level 250 or so!! TIA if anybody has an answer here.

So how to fix on my iPad-2? I'm hesitant to go to IOS 9.0, but is it there that this is fixed?

Remember that I consider that hack to be a bug.

And since Apple seems to agree, then it's fixed very well if you can't find a way around it.

OK, that wasn't helpful. Can you direct me on how I can get back the ability to change the system date to something four years into the future? TIA....HumbleHag

It's been fixed by Apple to prevent that.

So you know that I can't fix it so your idea of using an iOS version that allowed it looks to be spot on.

By the way, the rumor is that games will start fixing that hack as well, so what will you do then?
