system clock speeds up

ok amd 2800 2 stcks 2700 ddr ram cable conection all critical updates xp pro

ok since last yr the tool bar clock picks up speed never slow i replaced cosmos battery still does it, at times not every day can doit today but then go a week.

im puzzled im virus and spyware free its not a big deal since i use now atomic clock just to ping server.

The RTC is a "piece of hardware" on the motherboard that some run fast and some run slow. If you feel yours is too far off then you make it a warranty call and have the vendor perform.

Windows XP already has a time synce service so I must ask why you didn't use that..

every time i try to bob it never does it automatically this software i install makes it 1 click
windows says it will sync automatically never does sir

I read your response and I can't dissect if you are writing about Atom Time or the Windows Time Service.

The issue is well discussed so try this... IF you are using the Windows Time Service. Change time servers.

bob i have tried both time servers.
neither will ao with atomic its 1 click and im correct time wise thank you for your time

the fact that it seems to change in steps rather than uniform amounts each hour might be best to get a new one. I think the RTC is in the BIOS chip. I think that is a plugin chip in the mobo you have.

They may sell a BIOS chip for a reasonable amount [Asus charges $25]. That way you can also update your BIOS. Of course with your luck you'll get one that runs too slow. LOL

You seem so happy with how fast that you system runs, the RTC is simply trying to keep up. LOL

Obviously using an automatic sync system is a lot cheaper.
