The issue isn't so much old tech, but no driver appeared for the newer OSes. Unless you include Linux.
The answer is this. When the company collapsed they elected to not share the technical details on how the hardware worked and as such, newer drivers are not going to appear unless someone breaks the vow of silence and publishes the specs.
Since google.com finds what was out there, then you use a supported OS and continue using said unit until it fails.

I don't know if this is the right forum but I have a Dell 4300, running Win XP and would like to use my internal and external, Syquest SparQ, 1 gig hard drives. I cannot find a driver that will work with either the internal or external drives. I know they are "Old Tech" but they work well and hold a Gig of info and are easier to use then my CD burner. I have 5 cartridges and feel it is a shame that Windows will not recognize the install drivers. I have been to the Iomega and Syquest sites and got no help. Does anyone know of a site for generic drivers? Sorry for the long letter!
