Syncing Win 7 & Win Mobile 6.1

Jul 30, 2010 1:57AM PDT

Just installed Outlook 2010 and tried to sync my phone contacts to my PC Outlook. Running MS Win 7 64bit Home premium and openned Sync Center but cannot create a partnership between my PC and mobile. Is there a solution to this problem that works today? or must we wait for MS to come up with a solution?

You should post this question in the CNET Cell phones forum

Hello Howard,

This forum is for the issues and problems that users encounter with CNET TechTracker which is a program designed to help computer users keep their installed software up-to-date.

A better place to post your issue would be on the CNET Cellular telephone forum (http://forums.cnet.com/cell-phones-forum/?tag=contentMain;contentBody).

Sorry Howard.

I was on travel and just getting back to things.

This is the wrong forum but when you get your post in the Cell Phone or other forum let me know via my email. I'm authoring a few apps on WM 4.0 to 6.5 and may be able to guess this one. HOWEVER I don't have Office 2010 yet. We haven't gone there but the issue does not sound like an Office issue.

Try this. Try another USB cable. I got that message on one of our phones and it was the cable.

Syncing
Aug 4, 2010 10:55PM PDT

Hi Bob,
I registered my problem on the mobile forum and a kind person advised me to go to search google for the MS windows mobile device center download, which I located at MS web site and this has done the trick. It obviously was linked to a windows 7 issue. Strange that when I first searched the MS site for an answer to the problem I never found any mention about Windows mobile device center. Rgds HJ

Ahh the WMDC

Windows Mobile Device Center is what does the syncing. Just like prior versions of Windows had us install ActiveSync Windows 7 and Vista use the newer WMDC.

Glad it was the usual simple thing. Too bad it's not done automagically for us.
