Question

Syncing iphone 5c calendar to outlook mac 2011 calendar

Jan 22, 2015 12:12AM PST

Good morning,

As usual, you guys are my 'go to' after spending an hour surfing for an answer.

I have macbook os x 10.7.5 with office for mac 2011 v. 14.4.7 and iphone 5c v 8.1.2. Also itunes v. 12.0.1.26

I need to sync the calendar on my iphone to the outlook calendar. I can not find out how to do this. In searching on line I read to go through itunes and click on the devince then on info. There is no 'info' for this device.

Somehow, outlook lost all my data and I am trying to retrieve what I can. I reset outlook and made a new identity some months ago w/your help. However, I never got my calendar or any of my files under the left hand window showing all saved email info. (I really hate that).

However, I want to retrieve what I can and am so frustrated in thinking I found a solution on line only to find that the instructions given don't work ie, there is no 'info' tab for the itunes device.

I have read that I can download a sync program but it requires maverick; I've read a lot of negative comments about maverick and am worried about downloading it.

Can you pls give me a fix that I can use to get the iphone calendar data onto the outlook calendar? Pls give step by step instructions as I am pretty tech challenged.

Thank you so much,

Rita

Answer
Maybe it's time to have it done for you?

All the methods I know of are on the web and since those fail you my advice is to get with those that support you and ask them to make it work again.

As to the prior loss, where's the backup and restore system? We know that we lose what we don't backup so while your support friends are fixing up that sync, why not get them to setup Time Machine or such?

-> Here's an idea. Why not sync the calendar with Apple's own calendar for safety before you do anything else?

I've done some of that

Hey Bob,

You advised me to set up time machine when I first wrote about the data loss and I have since done that!! ThanksHappy

Unfortunately, you guys are my apple support team as everyone else I know uses PC's. The first thing I hear when I try to get advice from family/friends is 'I don't know anything about mac.' Sad

I'm not sure what you mean by syncing my ipone calendar to Apple's own calendar. Where do I find that?

Thanks again,

Rita

YEA!

Bob, thank you so much for not giving up on me. The first link you offered showed me where the ipone icon was (I didn't recognize it when I opened itunes and could NOT find the info tab). Seeing the pictures took me to the places I needed to go. Finally!

It is just amazing to me how knowing which button to click can save sooooo much time. I have been trying to sync my calendars for weeks. Occasionally surfing for info whenever I was on line.

I'm coming here b/f I waste so much of my time in the future!

Thanks again,

Rita

I apologize about this a little.

I can't see the screens folk see and then we have deeper problems today with malware and over reaching security suites.

Glad it was a navigation issue. I guess we need a GPS for apps soon.
