Synching Act 6.0 to Treo 650

Oct 7, 2005 3:21AM PDT

When my Treo 600 developed the dreaded "screen bug", I was upgraded to a Treo 650 from a 600. Way cool, I thought! My 600 ran ACT for Palm OS. Unbeknownst to me, ACT for Palm OS is not being upgraded to run with the new Palm OS. My options seem to be upgrade to ACT 2005 and run ACT linking software or run a third part linking software with ACT 6.0 (Intellisynch or CampanionLink). CNET comments seem very unfavorable about ACT 2005 (buggy, charges for formerly included features like the dialer, etc.)so I am not sanguine about an upgrade.

Anyone know of any other solution or have an opnion about the best of the two mentioned and the best third part linking software?

I am using Windows XP (home)and have 512MB Ram and plenty of free disk space.

Has anyone upgraded to ACT! 2006 to synch with the TREO 650?
Dec 30, 2005 5:08AM PST

I, too, am looking to move to a TREO 650 to consolidate my palm, blackberry, and sprint phone.

I hope there's an alternative, but if not, does anyone have experience with upgrading to ACT! 2006 and synching to the TREO 650 with it? Any pros/cons, problems, and/or tips will be greatly appreciated.

I'm running XP home ed and Act! 6 on my laptop and currently synch successfully with my Tungsten e...

I have not upgraded
Dec 30, 2005 5:53AM PST

I decided to not upgrade to ACT! 2006 because it looses connectivity with WinFax and I think the file structure is not compatible with earlier versions of ACT. I am running ACT! 6.03 (2003)

I swallowed the bullet and purchased CompanionLink (v2)for US$80.00. It works fine for me as the conduit. Setup was reasonably painless, and there have been no glitches since install. I think it works in conjunction with the Palm Desktop.

Only performance issues I have:
1) Companionlink will only run on XP.
2) ACT! and the Palm Desktop have to be on the same machine as CompanionLink, and syncing is ONLY from that one machine. CompanionLink is a one machine license.
3) The native Palm contact manager is the one used on the Treo. It does not have the bells amd whistles that the ACT! 2.0 for Palm has, but ACT! 2.0 for Palm does not run on the later versions of ACT! nor versions above 3.5 or 4 (?) for Palm OS.

If Sage/Peachtree has added a working conduit for ACT 2006, I do not know (nor care).

Companionlink died on me
Jan 23, 2006 10:37AM PST

I've happily used Companionlink for many years.

Since I upgraded to ACT 2004 v.8, Companionlink is DOA.

I've spent hours on the phone and dinking with the application. Companionlink support didn't let on that there might be an issue, but I've been trying to find out why it might be something on my computer and haven't found anything yet.

Then again, after about 20 years of using ACT!, I've been playing with Outlook.
