Sync Outlook Contact Subfolders (Pocket PC)

Oct 4, 2005 12:24PM PDT

Hello,

I have a Dell Axim x3i Pocket PC and I'm running Outlook 2000 on a WinXP machine using MS ActiveSync 3.8. I want to be able to sync my ENTIRE contacts folder including subfolders. I don't want to simply combine all my contact into one folder. What do I need to be able to sync the subfolders? Different sync settings? Third party syncing software? Updated version of Outlook?

I'd really appreciate any help you can give. Thanks in advance!
Rachel

Did you call Dell?

They had an answer at one time.

For me, the last Axim came with Outlook 2003, but from memory the sync is limited.

"syncing contacts subfolders is not natively supported by ActiveSync. If you wish to synchronize contacts subfolders, one option is PumaTech's IntelliSync Enterprise Edition. Intellisync works with ActiveSync to allow greater control over your synchronization options."

You may scream at the cost. But at least its possible.

I'll check on it

Thanks for the reply. It runs in my mind that my Axim also came with Outlook 2003 but I seem to remember that I couldn't use Outlook 2003 with Word 2000 as my email editor. I guess it's MS way of getting me to upgrade word processors. I'll double check though.

I'll also check out Intellisync. Perhaps one of their lesser (than Enterprise) editions will still sync subfolders?!? Like you said at least it's possible.

Thanks again!

From memory, Enterprise feature only.

Again, I have not double checked their offerings, but I remember this question from last year and the owner was not thrilled at the price.
