SW Update issue on Windows 8.1

Aug 7, 2014 3:43AM PDT

Hi everyone. I have reently upgraded my Samsung NP530U4B to Windows 8.1. After that I installed SW Update but it keeps saying "No internet connection available" etc. I have contacted the Samsung support team but they told me that they don't support Windows 8.1 drivers for my model and that I should downgrade to Windows 8 or 7 (it is ridiculous). Can anyone suggest me any other alternatives, what could be done? Thank you.

Try what they supply.

Install the Samung supplied OS and see if it works. Windows 8.1 work is one of those areas makers may take some time on.

I did try it

Thank you, Bob. Actually I bought my laptop with Windows 7 on it and had no issues with Samsung delivered programmes. However, as I said before, downgrading is not an option (if you mean that).

Make the call.

I guess what you mean is your apps or such mean you can't use the supplied OS so if there is no going back and Samsung has no 8.1 support then the next move is clear. Begin the return process as the unit is not fit for purpose.

Not an option

Thank you. But if you read my question carefully, I was asking for any other alternatives/programmes and that downgrading is not an option. My computer is just 2 years old but Samsung has already ended its support, what a shame.

Sorry

But as there is no support and laptops being what they are, if there is some missing driver you find out what others have been discovering for years.

I don't see how I can help you as I don't write those drivers or see them at

It's a bad sign when you don't see the Windows 8 drivers. Many makers are all too eager to create new models every few months and as the years pass, well you are experiencing the problems first hand.

Do try installing the drivers for Windows 7 since that's all you can do. Also, it's not intuitive what to install as well as what helper apps are required.

Thank you Bob. I tried to install WIndows 7 drivers, no help. I will never opt for Samsung laptops any more. I believe they make everything high quality except for computers (which is sad). However they have exceptional online support, but that doesn't work always.

You may have to write off Sony as well as Microsoft.
