SVP LEGAL ACTION. Please share your story!

Nov 16, 2006 2:21PM PST

I am putting together a database of those who have been ripped off by the SVP scam. Those who are familiar with this brand know exactly what I am talking about. The intention is to take action agains each and every employee, on an individual basis. Please reply and share your story. Include the model number(s) purchased and the total amount of money spend on each given purchase. I look forward to hearing from the international community.

RE: Add me to the class action suit.

I do not think there is a lawsuit. If you got the camera less than 45 days ago GET A REFUND or else you will be like the rest of us out here stuck with expensive crap! Good Luck

All the posts are NOT a waste of time - and here is why
Apr 21, 2009 12:56AM PDT

As we all know, a class action suit may occur when many different people combine their similar complaints. This saves court time and allows a single judge to hear all the concerns at the same time, and come to one settlement for all parties. If the court agrees to certify the complaints as a class action, all class members should have equal say and rights to any monies or remedies ordered by the court.

There are several requirements to consider when attempting to form a new class action case. Simplified, these are:
1. Numerosity - adequate number of plaintiffs
2. Commonality - common damages and legal issues
3. Typicality - each class member's claim must come from the same
event, and must make the same legal argument

The following law firm will listen to what we have to say: LawyersandSettlements.com.

So, as I said in my last post, I am a certified paralegal (also a law student) and will help if necessary.
Thank you.

what is Mega Pixels? The more pixels that exist in a image the higher the resolution and therefore the greater the quality of the image. Many new digital camera are equipped with mega pixel sensors.

SVP- truly awful
Aug 1, 2009 11:40AM PDT

My mother bought one of these "cameras" around 2006-2007.
I am not sure how much she paid or the model number, but it is a horrible product.

I am sure she paid somewhere in the neighborhood of $100-$200, and it is likely she purchased it from an online shopping channel.

I think it claimed 12+ megapixels when she purchased it, (again this was in 2006-2007).

Maybe 3% of the photos were salvageable. The black and white function performed much better than the color, but the quality was still terrible by comparison to 2-3 MP cameras.

I may have trashed it after I bought her a refurbished Kodak - no problems.

I will see if we still have it and report back if so.

I too fell for the beautiful apple green camera off of ebay. It was late at night, my kodak had broke the day before and there it was this 12 mp camera with mp3 player and several other functions. "WOW this is a great deal I am getting for $95 and it is so pretty." I should of done my homework! Three days later I rushed home to find this peice of crap in the mail!! Right away I just felt something was wrong. It was just so light like made out of plastic. To make a long story short, only half of the features even worked. I contacted paypalclippercutie, maildirect, svp ( this are all differnent email addresses that they used when they responded.) When I bought it I was suppose to be able to return within 7 days for a refund. I contacted them and they said they would refund my money but I would be charged a $35 restocking fee!! The camera itself is not even worth $35. $10 at the most is what it is worth. I sent the camera back and they gave me a huge runaround, claiming that they never recieved it. I opened up a case in the resolution center with ebay. Four weeks later and 100s of treating emails from me, threats of classaction lawsuits against SVP , all resellers and ebay I was finally given my money back all except for $10. I will not stop until my $10 is back and until ebay has stopped allowing these people to sell this product. This camera is NOT what they say it is!!!!!! It takes the worst pics ever. DO NOT BUY THIS!!! I am very lucky I got my money back!! I cannot find anybody else that has recieved a refund!!!!!You must be very persistant and threaten them with a lawsuit. They are very much falsly advertizing. They are liers and thieves!! They must be stopped!!! They owe me for the stress and frustration that they put me through for 4 weeks!! I feel so bad for all the people that bought this for a gift for someone!!!!This Christmas there will be a lot of dissapointed and angry people.

I also fell for the false advertizing of this apple green 12 megapixal camcorder/camera/mp3/mp4 player. Instead of this high quality peice of equipment purchased for $95, I received a cheap and defective camera worth $10 if even that. I immediatly contacted
paypalclippercuttie, maildirect, svp (these are all of the names that that used in responding to my emails) to demand a refund. I told them it was not only defective, but a peice of junk and will not be wanting another. I sent it back and sent tracking number to them. Week later I had heard nothing and when I emailed they wanted the tracking number again. I couldnt find it so they claimed they never recieved it. I opened up a ebay dispute against them and went through hell the last four weeks trying to get them to admit that they did recieve the camera. Everyday I threatend them and when I finally threatend a class action lawsuit they " found my package" and reversed the charges except for $10. I am not going to stop until I get every penny back from these crook. That $10 probably covered the camera and provided profit on it. Feel free to contact me if any one has any problems with a refund and I will tell how I got mine. I definitly will take part in a suit. They owe my for 4 weeks of making my life hell and causing unnessesary stress. My fibromalgia has really been acting up because of the stress making an negative impact on my body. Corrupt business
Jul 19, 2012 12:59AM PDT

I bought a SVP DC-1231 Acqua Cybersnap 5MP underwater camera off of Buy.com August 9th of 2011. After only a few uses the fastening clip on the housing cracked and broke rendering it useless as an underwater camera. For the last 2 weeks I have been in contact with Silicon Valley Peripherals in attempt to acquire just a new clip. I was told that was not possible, but a new housing could be purchased for $15.00, which doesn't sound like much. I can buy an entire new model for $39.99. The camera is supposed to have a 1-year warrantee, but SVP informed me that the housing is an accessory and is not included in the warrantee. How can a housing for a camera advertised as an underwater 5MP digital camera be considered an accessory?
I have also contacted the BBB of California. Their 1st attempt with Silicone Valley Peripherals was unproductive. SVP is holding their ground.
All I want is a new fastening clip that can't cost them more than 50 cents.
This company is corrupt, which is too bad because during the little amount of time the housing worked I got some decent footage of my kids in the pool. I will not buy another product from this company ever again and will make every effort possible to let others know what they are getting into before they purchase from them.

Worthless Phone!! S580
Jul 20, 2015 6:26PM PDT

I bought a SVP S580 unlocked phone on Ebay that the wireless internet would not work. Tried to contact company several times for warranty, but they would not reply back. Sorry Company!
