SVP with Lindas Camera World!
by areynolds / January 12, 2006 11:14 AM PST
In reply to: svp is a piece of crap

Yes, we too recently bought an SVP through Linda's Camera World. My daughter has been trying desperately to figure out how to use it. She advertises that it works with a MAC - but when I've spent the last couple hours on it we finally figured out how to take photos and download them, but the movies are white. I tried writing her, but got an auto message back with dead end links. Have written to the contact at the svp site - but don't know for sure if that is legit either...we may have recourse through Pay Pal, but that is a long process. Let me know if you or anyone else finds something that works!

This is completely false! You respond with cut and paste emails sending buyers to to ask for their assistance! And when that lousy company bothered to respond, their response was cut and paste and does NOT address the issue! "Case specialist??" HA! Frankly, you have email specialist at best who only know how to delve out responsibility on others or the buyer unlike your claims here and on your auctions you'll help!

Proof is in the pudding . . . just read the negative feedback and see the manipulative and dishonest responses by this seller. SVP is garbage and your company is horrible. Perhaps it's time to evaluate how you can improve instead of defending yourself to hundreds of frustrated and manipulated customers. You can be sure I'll be doing what I can to spread the word that you people should NOT be purchased from.

The proof is, indeed, in the pudding. It's easy to claim to provide support. It's a whole 'nother thing to actually provide it, and earn satisfied customers.

As a representative of Lindas_Camera_World, after noticing a concerned customer (and fellow cNet member), and in an effort to continue to provide our customers helpful, relevant assistance, I am passing along information on how a Lindas_Camera_World customer should address their concerns to achieve a fast, friendly solution. Anytime you need help, or have any concern with your purchase, please contact us directly.

In an effort to continue to improve our customers experience and satisfaction, and overcome some of the challenges of electronic commerce, we have created a special contact email address for cNet members to contact us at:

We have over 5000 positive ratings on eBay from past buyers to back up our products and services, and we will make every effort to provide you the support you need if you just give us the opportunity. In addition, we only sell products we use ourselves. If you need help using an item, or just want to get some extra advice on using any item you purchased from us, please contact us.

Wow . . . still not telling the truth
by camera_world / February 4, 2006 4:59 PM PST

"We have over 5000 positive ratings." Not true, you have UNDER 5000 . . . though miniscule, still shows the fabrication and manipulation you and your company like to spew at the public. You've been touting this number for a while and it's not over 5k yet, so try being honest.

Bottom line, you anger a lot of people and those people are here to tell others to avoid you. If folks pay attention and there is this much frustration with lindas_camera_world on eBay, than perhaps its valid and something other than jargon and generic rantings are called for.

Fact: The SVP cameras they sell are garbage and mediocre at best. They do not work consistently, they do not work in Windows XP consistently, and they are manufactured poorly. They are made of some type of brushed silver plastic unlike quality products like Olympic, Panasonic, and Sony. The more quality products are made of aluminum, the buttons are solid and installed correctly, and the product by far is superior to SVP or any other garbage lindas_camera_world tries to sell.

Please don't be duped by the cheap price. You get what you pay for and according to the numerous complaints, opinions posted, and frequent negative and neutral ratings they do get, there is certainly something wrong.

I beg readers to look at the eBay member listing and the ratings for "lindas_camera_world" and read the BS they respond to negative and neutral feedback with. I purchased my lousy camera on the 13th of January, I filed for my money back on the 27th after several attempts for help. It's clear that the complaints on there are not in-the-moment or nonsensical. They are valid and should not be ignored.

Melinda, you need to reevaluate where you stand when you say the things you do and clearly do not follow through. You need to walk the talk and if continued complaints come in, then it's clear you are not.

Business advice: At my place of business which I over-see and manage, we give people their money back without question when there is a problem. We stand behind our product and know we put out something that is quality. Your product is NOT quality and yet you defend and make manipulative comments about how you care and do what you can. Simple fact is, you don't do anything you claim. You want to gain customer satisfaction? Than if someone has an issue, give them their money back immediately! If you truly stand behind your product, than you'd do that rather than give your customers the run around and cut-and-paste response emails.

From the information provided here, and the information provided to our support, it sounds like your item is in need of manufacturer service/repair. We are a supplier/distributor of the item, not trained or experienced in repairing them, so in an effort to get your item working we may direct you to the manufacturer since they offer to every customer a 1 year manufacturer?s warranty on their products (

I have personally used this same item with great success, its an amazing 7-In-1 device that can take digital photos, record video, play MPEG4 movies, work as a personal voice recorder, PMP Movie player, MP3 Player, and 2GB expandable external memory card reader/pen drive that fits in your pocket, all for under $200 (our current price is under $150).

What you wrote is nearly exactly what I am dealing with now. A camera that does not work with Windows, poor contact by the seller, cut and paste responses, NOT responding helpfully to assistance needs, and the seller coming in here attempting to pass off as helpful and caring. If they cared, they'd sell items that weren't junk and they'd actually respond with helpful assistance or go out of their way to fix an issue. In my case, I'm having to dispute the charges since it took 2 weeks before anyone bothered to attempt to help me. SVP finally offered to have me send the camera to them with a picture in it so they could download it and email me with it to prove it worked. This type of response is laughable and idiotic. Best of luck to you and getting your money back . . . frankly, thee is little alternative than to just deal with the process and ensure this seller is stopped from manipulating buyers.

Linda's World and SVP and My Two Cents.
by acecow / February 24, 2006 5:36 AM PST

Hi There. Just had to put in my 2 cents.

I have several SVP cameras and they work so good that I wonder why anyone would buy a big macho city camera to take pictures. I use the 8MP CDC 8610 and it's wonderful. The pictures are so sharp and colorful. I was asked so many times about the camera I thought I would just start selling them. To date I haven't had one come back. Linda's Camera World supplied me with several and their service was great, on time and packed so well I had no worry about damage. I think you get the service that you give. Nice people and positive additude makes all the difference. If you don't know a thing about a camera you can always try reading the manuals. That really helps. I was able to get mine to taking pictures right out of the box without reading a thing and I am a blonde to the roots. So, I am not all that good with cameras. I love the movies I have taken with it as well. The sound is so clear and no need to turn it up . It is really sensitive to picking up every sound.

So, consider the sourse when you hear of a problem with a company. No problem with Linda's Camera World because they really go all out to help and give you good service. Not happy.=? Send it back and I know you'll be returned your money or a new camera.

Jamie the Blonde.....LOL

Go to Ebay - hit Disputes and follow the process to file your formal complaint today! You have up to 60 days to do so! Identify your issues and shut them down! This is ridiculous - the canned response tells us to resell the camera if we do not like the product. Who ever heard of such a thing?! Why would I want to sell something that doesn't work?

Linda's Camera World said in the email to me: "My prices are low enough that if you don?t like your item you can resell it on eBay, usually for a profit." Sorry, I'm NOT buying it, and neither should anyone else - I can spend the same amount at Best Buy and have a camera that works!

Hey there!

As soon as I filed my dispute Pay Pal refunded my $. Funny thing - I got an automatic email from Linda's telling me to pay my bill (I had paid it 2 weeks previous - which is why I was disputing the item!) Anyway, I sent back the computer, Pay Pal completed the dispute and I'm no longer out my $170!

This time Pay Pal really came through! I did have to pay the shipping, but got a great DV camer (JVC) at Wal Mart on sale for $200. We're happy and I just hope this helps people who do their research - don't buy a camera from Linda's Camera World!

Thank you very much for being vigilant and following up with your experiences with this particular manufacturer of cameras, SVP. I was seriously considering buying one of these cameras as the manufacturer promised a LOT of awesome features. However, it occurred to me that no other cameras in this price range seemed to be in this class with all of these features. It was also funny to me that I really haven?t seen any positive responses to these cameras (in particular the CDC-7530). I figured for the price, if this camera really delivers what it promises, there would be all sorts of great feed back. Well, I tried VERY hard and found NONE! However, I did find a lot of negative responses on cnet. Enough to deter me from buying any product from SVP!!! Or from Linda?s Camera World, for that fact. Although, I must say, I wasn?t paying close attention to Linda?s feedback, but what I have seen just seems fishy to me. Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for saving me the money and I hope that this post makes you feel a little better (that you helped a fellow consumer save some cash).

As far as SVP and Linda?s go, I haven?t bought anything from you, yet I felt compelled to write this post and I am a VERY busy person. Just think of all of the people that just get deterred by your negative feedback and don?t bother to post a response. I am frankly discussed by your business practices and WOULD NEVER buy anything from you. You should do the right thing and give these people back their money and start doing some honest business.

Thanks for the help guys. Although, I have no idea what I am going to buy now. Because of this, I?m thinking about not being cheap and staying with a trusted company such as Cannon, Minolta, Kodak, and so on. At least that way, I know I?m buying a quality product and am not getting ripped off. Being ripped off sucks!!! Anyway, any suggestions of what camera to buy under $200 that is a good bang for the buck? I need LOTS of features!!! Something around 4 or 5 mega pixels range. TV/video inputs as well as USB for my computer. Nice optical zoom seems to be a must! Video isn?t important but would be nice to have the feature just in case I need it once in a blue moon.

try JVC
by areynolds / February 10, 2006 11:00 PM PST

Hi there,

With the money we got back (although we had to pay the shipping/handling to sweet "Linda") we bought a $200 DV by JVC at Wal Mart. A helpful little man showed us one that was going out of stock - we got a great deal on it. I won't buy a camera on the net again - just never know what you are getting and there is absolutely no follow up for issues. The extra $ you pay is definately well worth it!

CDC-7530 Camera
by cdc7530buyer / February 12, 2006 10:47 AM PST

I don't believe that you are qualified to make any comments about this camera if you do not own it. I have purchased two SVP camera's, one being the cdc-7530. I have no complaints whatsoever about this camera. It does do everything as advertised.

The first camera I purchased takes awesome pictures in the outdoors, but I am having problems with indoor pictures. I contacted SVP and they had me send it back to them. They are checking it out now. I will either get the camera back repaired, or a new or like item. I paid less than $100 for each camera. The price is awesome.

I must agree that communication with Linda's Camera World is cumbersom though. I have sent many emails to them about a camera and you always get an auto response telling you the same thing, even if it is not related to what you are inquiring about. Then possibly at some point, you may get a response from them about your question. In the end, they did solve my problem.

As far as SVP goes, I emailed them about the first camera I purchased and I received a call from SVP tech support. They were on the phone for over an hour with me, going over the steps of the camera, before they advised me that if what we discussed did not help, to send them the camera. They gave me a reference number to include with the camera and I sent it to them. I was notified when they received it.

SVP is not a fake company and their staff have all been pleasant to me.

I hope this helps anyone trying to decide on whether or not to purchase an SVP camera. I will do it again when and if I need another camera.

I do not know much about digital camera's. I just wanted a camera that I could point and shoot in any situation and get good pictures.

I bought a Canon at my local store (and some coaching from the salesperson) and took it with me on a business trip to India. Once I got home and downloaded the pictures, I was VERY disappointed. Some pictures were very dark and the rest were blurred. I admit I thought it was my fault; I probably did't operate it correctly.

My husband is the one in our family that knows all about computers and machines and was actually a photographer in college. So he took the camera on a business trip and got the same results. I knew I was going back to India and wanted a good camera this time, but I didn't have a lot to spend so I got on EBay.

I bought a CDC-7530 from Linda's Camera World. It was much easier to use than my other camera and the features were great - even I could figure them out. And I am here to tell you, I have some of the best pictures now. I didn't do any research before I bought this camera, but I am SO glad I did!

Yes, there are probably much better camera's out there, but for the price I paid, I am a VERY satisfied customer, both with this camera and Linda's Camera World. The next time I need a camera (both my kids are wanting digital camera's) we WILL but from Linda's again. I can't afford to buy those expensive camera's but I think my pictures turned out just as well as any.

You say that you couldn't find any good things about the camera, but think about this - you are much more likely to hear the bad stuff about things than you are the good things. Your comment said you were "discussed" (I think you meant disgusted) by her business practices. I don't know what the situation is, but I just wanted to say there is at least one VERY satisfied customer.

SVP-CDC-7530 camera
by abrattysubby / February 14, 2006 2:11 AM PST

i bought an SVP-CDC-7530 camera to replace my Panasonic DMC-LC40, for my vacation because i didn't want to bring my Panasonic and risk loosin it also it's big and bulky. I don't know about anyone else but i am in love with my SVP camera, it's everythin it is advertised to be. i bought 2, 512mb sd cards , kept the camera on 4 mp, and took over 2000 pictures. all the pictures were awesome, and crystal clear. my niece had a blast with the camera playin the games on it on the 3 hour plane ride to and from Florida. i have used it for 2 birthday party's so far and had to send my pics from the party's to everyone. i also have a new puppy and haven't stopped takin pictures of him, we also had a blizzard here and took some great pics from the storm. i have had the camera for a lil over 1 month now and so far i haven't had any problems with it, and have takin over 3000 pics with it so far and so far it's been AOK. i searched the web before buyin my SVP camera and didn't find much on it, i even check CNET and only found one thing on it and it wasn't anythin bad. but did check out digital camera's and the mega pixels available and found the mega pixels for armatures are up to like 8 mega pixels ones that were higher were for professionals. i seen on linda's camera world they have camera's with over 8 mega pixels there were priced pretty good but after doin research on web and seein the prices didn't match up for the higher mega pixels i stuck with 8 pixels and lower. the delivery does take time, and it is stated it takes 5 business days from when it is cleared from pay pal, mine came in within a week. but hey if u want it right away go to a store and buy a camera. so far i am happy with my camera. time will tell how it lasts and holds up as with any other product.

Correction to the previous post
by snapshot2 Forum moderator / February 14, 2006 6:08 AM PST
In reply to: SVP-CDC-7530 camera

The write-up seems to imply that the 7530 is an 8 megapixel camera.

The SVP site shows that the 7530 has "7.0 meg max" printed on the front of the camera.

If you read the specifications, it states that the camera has a 5 megapixel sensor. Therefore, it is a 5 megapixel camera.

If anyone advertises this camera as anything other than 5 megapixel, they are misleading their customers.
