I have a Dell 6400 laptop that is less than a year old and have had no problems up to now, and I could use some help. Upon startup Windows will launch and then I recive a error which reads.
svchost.exe-Application Error
The instruction at "0x745f2780" referenced memory at "0x00000000"
The memory could not be "read"
Click on OK to terinate the program.
Click on Cancel to debug the program.
I have tried both to terminate and debug but nether works the laptop locks up.Any ideas, or do I have to reinstall Windows?

Can be a sign of a pest.

What was running at the time of the bomb?

What pest control software do you use?

I'll suggest the usual scans of EWIDO and HOUSECALL.

I don't recall what was running the first time.
I run MSN Premiums Antivirus Package and spybot.

EWIDO and HOUSECALL for a second opinion.

Thanks for the help.I ran HouseCall and it did't find a problem and I was still getting the error.
I ran EWIDO and it found 7 problems.I have rebooted several times and it seems to have fixed the problem.
Thanks again. Gary

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
