SuSE or other linux flavors and Promise IDE Raid

Oct 5, 2005 5:10AM PDT

Supposedly Linux will work on Raids but My system just locks up. MB is Asus V7V333 with Promise IDE Raid 0 or 1 capability but I can't run an install on it. the bios is set to boot from CD (for install disks) and then the raid. I have the drives which are identical and test perfectly set for one large striping 160g part and linux just won't buy it. Where should I look for the driver? I went to usr root but I can't access the system root even with the password. Having similar problem with 3d graphics and ATI 9800Pro with the ATI driver. when I down load it I get a corrupted file using Konqerer and Firefox. Blind and dumb needs help here.
Thank you
