Surround sound w/Comcast digital

Jan 13, 2005 9:58AM PST

I have a small home theater system including a Sony surround sound reciever. I just upgraded my Comcast cable tv to digital. Now all the digital channels have no rear speaker output. The lower standard channels still have sound from the rear speakers. The indicator on my vcr does not show a stereo input from the digital channels. When the Comcast tech came out for the install I asked him if the surround would work because it was not working when he was there. He said that the box would take up to two hours to set itself up. That was a week ago and still no rear sound. My box only has a coax output and a composit out. I have read in some forums that there is a box with digital out. Do I have the wrong box? Is that box only for HD? I do not have a HD tv so I don't want the HD package. Any help would be appreciated.
