I use my ps3 w/hdmi and optical for Dolby or dts. look in your menu settings(I dont have a xbox) under audio set up and look for optical. if this option is not available try run a optical from your HDTV there is one usualy on the back. I have not tried this personally.
Good luck
i just bought some new turtle beaches X41 (very happy) buttt i just realised i cannot use a HDMI cable (which i require for my screen as it is a monitor and the only HD input available) and TOSLINK cable (required for the surround sound)
The instructions say to use the component AV cable supplied with the xbox, but this is reduced quality and my screen cannot accept it anyway.
So im looking for a way to use a HDMI cable, with a toslink cable(otherwise known as a digital optical cable i believe).
anyone know if this is possible/ any products on the market that could achieve this?
